Here is the information for the Book Fair performance on November 11th.
As per our conversation, I am holding a slot for you and your students on the
program for the Book Fair's Street Fair on Sunday, November 11th at 11:00
a.m. on the World Stage. Please confirm if you will be able to attend and
the way we should list the group's name on the program. As I have it currently
it is: The Miami Dade College Commercial Music Ensemble conducted by Ed Calle.
The event will take place downtown. I have asked for exact directions. We will need to park at the MDC lot on the Wolfson Campus. Directions to the lot will be posted on Angel and my website this weekend.
Dress: White tops/shirts and khaki pants. Ladies can dress elegant/casual as you have dressed in the past. No sneakers, t-shirts, or sloppy clothes please. As you know, I detest hip-hop garb and rock and roll garb. Dress like educated people who are offering their talent and hard work with a most diverse and cultured audience. Remember, we are playing for people who read and write books. Of course, we are some of those people:)
The Book Fair stage is located on 3rd Street and First Ave.
Parking will be available at the Wolfson parking garage. You will need to show an MDC ID or a parking sticker.
We will meet this Sunday on the stage at 9:30 AM and perform at 11:00 AM. Each instrumentalist is responsible for their own equipment. Everyone is responsible for their own music stand and music. I will only be bringing my own keyboard for personal use. Guitarists, please bring your amps. Drummers and percussionists must bring their own drum sets and rigs respectively. Pianists must bring their own keyboards. You may bring a small synthesizer instead of a piano if it will do the job. I will arrange for us to drive behind the stage and unload our gear. Dress is khaki pants/skirts and white shirts. No sneakers and no t-shirts. Hats are allowed so long as they do not include suggestive or offensive slogans or images. Sun glasses are optional:)
We will have sound reinforcement, microphones, and monitors. Please do not expect the sound people to supply direct boxes or cables for your guitars and keyboards. The sound folks are from the MDC AV department and will be hard pressed to provide more than the minimum sound reinforcement needs.
PLEASE PASS THE WORD.
